“Look, what I’m telling you is true!” he said to another. “Willard is a body-snatcher.”
“Really?” another questioned.
“Yes, he is. I seen him the other night doing one of his rituals.”
Others looked at him with intrigue, and tuned in.
“He was sitting there talking to the body. No one else was around. ‘What the hell is that?’ he says. Then he picks up this deteriorated arm and smells it a little. ‘Look how funny it is,’ he says. What a creep I say!”
“Really? This happened?”
“Of course!” he said sternly. “And when he starting repeating his mantra he went crazy.”
“What was he saying?” another asked.
“I don’t know something like ‘Just gonna hurt myself hurt myself bad, really bad,’ or something like that.”
They all looked at the man, and with their eyes inward, they stood thinking. They didn’t really know how to react. For Willard was a nice man, but quiet. No one knew who he really was.
